Huayhuash Trek
Head out on one of the most spectacular treks in the Andes. The Huayhuash Circuit is simply world class and not to be missed.




DAY 1. We meet at your hotel at 8 a.m. for introductions and discussions for the trip ahead. We head out for an acclimatization hike just outside the city followed by gear checks upon return to the hotel.
DAY 2. We head out for a day hike to Laguna Churup 4500m (14,763ft) to continue our acclimatization prep for the trip ahead. The hike takes around 5 hours round trip.
DAY 3. We head out in the morning for the drive to the village of Llamac 3400m (11,152ft) before beginning our trek. After sorting gear and loading up our burros, we begin our trek to Cuartelhuain 4,150m (13,615ft).
DAY 4. We head to Cacananpunta Pass at 4700m (15,419ft). We will take in the views of peaks such as Rondoy 5870m (19,258ft) and Ninashanca 5607m (18,395ft). Once over the pass we’ll make our way down to Laguna Mitucocha 4300m (14,107ft), where we will make camp for the night.
DAY 5. We head to our second pass, Carhuac . After topping out at 4650m (15,255ft), we head into another beautiful valley making our second camp at Laguna Carhuacocha 4150m (13,615ft).
DAY 6. We take a rest day at Laguna Carhuacocha, taking in the beautiful views and continuing to acclimate. For those feeling good, we can go on a hike to further explore the area.
DAY 7. We head towards the village of Huayhuash at 4,750m (15,583ft). We will have amazing views of the surrounding Cordillera Blanca as we take on our third challenging pass, Carnicero 4600m (15,091ft), before continuing on to the beautiful village of Huayuash for the night.
DAY 8. We take an early start leaving the village of Huayuash and heading towards Laguna Viconga 4395m (14,419ft). We climb over Portachuelco Pass at 4750m (15,583ft), taking in more incredible views of the Cordillera along the way. Once at Viconga we have a chance to soak in its hot springs to complete the day.
Day 9. We climb to our highest pass today, Cuyoc at 5000m (16,404ft), making our way to Rinconcada where we will camp for the night.
DAY 10. We have a lighter day today as we make our way towards the village of Huayllap and then on to to Huatiac 4300m (14,107ft), where we will spend the night.
DAY 11. We head out today towards Gashgapampa 4500m (14,763ft), where we will make camp for the night, tackling Tapush Pass 4800m (15,748ft) along the way.
DAY 12. We leave Gashgapampa, in route to Laguna Jahuacocha 4150m (15,548ft), crossing Yahucha Pass at 4750m (15,584ft), giving us spectacular views including the second highest peak in Peru, Yerupaja 6,635m (21,768ft).
DAY 13. We enjoy our last day of the trip, leaving Jahuacocha and heading to the small village of Llamac. We climb our last pass of the trip, Pampa Llamic Pass 4300m (14,108ft), taking in our last views of the Cordillera Huayhuash before entering the village and our transport back to Huaraz where we can enjoy hot showers and a celebratory meal.
